Background: Founded in 2002 by Roger Hamilton and Dave Rogers, XL Group was set up to accelerate the growth of entrepreneurship and effective giving around the world. Having started with a small, pioneering group of Life Members in Singapore, XL Results Foundation grew over the next 7 years into a network of entrepreneurs in 27 countries. In time, it became apparent that to realise World Wide Wealth, the network would need to be made up of millions, not thousands, of members. It was also realised that the network would need to bring together not only entrepreneurs , but the world’s change-makers too. In January 2009, changes were put in place to enable XL to grow into a sustainable, scalable and organic model.

March 31st, 2009 saw the launch of this new model when entrepreneurs from around the world met in Bali to sign a Declaration of Interdependence and XL Nation was born. This day is now known as on XL National Day.

While the old XL Results Foundation model operated as a social enterprise with an office and management team in Singapore and profit-making Country Management teams in each country, XL Nation operates as a democratic global nation with XL World as its online community hub. Supported as a non-profit from annual Citizen fees, XL Nation will run with a democratically elected leadership team from 2010.
